And just like that, it’s done!
Well, just about. The tough part is done. Now I get to start adding foods back in to my routine and see how I adjust to them. I’m assuming this will go well, as I’ve never noted any food sensitivities, had any digestive upset, noted any flares. But you never know, and I’m wondering if any particular food was setting off that bloating that started me on this path in the first place. Which brings me to:
Results this week: ALL the bloating is gone, along with that terrible menopause hormone pooch thing that was driving me crazy. I’m so happy with the results I’ve gotten with this reset. I’m down six pounds (of the ten pounds I’ve been trying to lose for the last 15 years!) and my clothes are all so much more comfortable to wear. I’m sleeping well (always an issue with me- I’m such a light sleeper that everything wakes me up and I take forever to get back to sleep). I’m noticing now that I’m not as sensitive to little sounds and can stay asleep longer before waking. If I do wake up, I can fall back to sleep in a few minutes, whereas it used to take me an hour or two.
My skin looks healthier, although this rash has not budged. Not to worry- I have my Desbio kit on the way, and will be doing that program next.
Hot flashes are still around, but SO MUCH BETTER. I suspect that resetting my hormone balance is going to be a longer haul, but that’s fine if I can at least manage the havoc. This too shall pass eventually.
What I’ve learned: going through this program was tough initially, but, as any new thing, getting started and learning the process was the hardest. I feel like I have a great handle on this way of eating, and I plan to continue planning my meals weekly to keep better track of my portions and balancing my types of food.
It’s amazing how the little things add up. I THOUGHT I was a healthy eater, but little desserts here and there, eating out all weekend, letting food choices slide into bad habits… everything adds up. I’m shocked that just four weeks of really being stringent in my food choices has made such a significant impact on so many areas of my well being.
Overall, this has been enlightening, much more doable than I thought, and surprising that I actually WANT to keep up this ultra healthy lifestyle. Although I will continue to enjoy mom’s butter cookies. They’re ALWAYS going to be part of my plan when they’re around!!
Blessings,
Melanie
